370 COMMUNITY SERVICE GRADE 12
Year Course – 1 or 2 Credits
Must be a senior. Attendance, grades, and discipline are considerations for acceptance into this course.
Upon completion of this course, the student will:
interact with at least one person in a job setting
become aware of the duties of specific jobs
recognize the value of volunteerism/shadowing as a means of learning about future career or life experiences
understand and appreciate their worth as unique and capable individuals
practice the responsibilities of the world of work, and learn the consequences of irresponsibility DESCRIPTION This course will give seniors the opportunity to volunteer during the school day in an occupation they are considering for the future or at a site in which they have an interest. The course will give students a real life work experience unable to be gained in the classroom.
