CG Trader is offering a scholarship to high school seniors who are interested in the field of technology by writing different essays on how innovative technologies are transforming our lives. Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Robert L. Lebendig Scholarship. This scholarship is available to all seniors regardless of your religious background.  Completed applications must be received at the address on the application by May 15.

Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Blair County Law Enforcement Officers Scholarship. You must be planning to pursue a career within the Law Enforcement Field. Completed applications must be received at the address on the application by May 1.

 

Applications are now available in the guidance office for the G.H. Miller & Jeanne Wolford McKelvey Scholarship. This scholarship is offered through 1st Summit Bank. Completed applications must be returned to the counseling office by May 24. Late applications will not be accepted.

Mike Rowe’s 2017 Work Ethic Scholarship Program is now open and accepting applications. This is a GREAT opportunity for any student pursing a trade school. . Information is now available in the counseling office for the Rudy J. and Annamae Labor Memorial Scholarship. Seniors must have applied and be newly-accepted into a full-time degree program at South Hills School of Business .  Your high school GPA must be a 3.0 or equivalent.  To apply for this scholarship, please visit the website at www.centre-foundation.academicworks.com/oppportunities/1378    Application deadline is May 15th.

 

Information is now available in the guidance office for the Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship. You must be planning on pursuing and completing a career or technical certificate or degree. Applications are available online at www.application.horatioalger.org and the deadline is June 15.

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Pennsylvania Land Surveyors Foundation Scholarship.  You must be planning on pursuing a bachelor’s degree or associate degree in land surveying. Completed applications must be postmarked by April 10.

Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Blair County Tea Party Scholarship. You must write a 500 word essay on the subject that is listed on the application. The application and essay should be mailed to the address on the application and postmarked by March 31.

Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Josephine Haines Mock Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who is attending a four year university in Pennsylvania and must be a first generation prospective college student. Completed applications must be returned to the guidance office by March 22. Late applications will not be accepted.

 

Applications are now available for the Jaffa Highlanders Scholastic Award.  This scholarship will be awarded to someone who is planning on studying History, Literature or the Arts.  Applicants should have a special interest in Scotland.  Completed applications must be returned to the guidance office by March 10.  Late applications will not be accepted.

 

Applications for the Angie Gioiosa Memorial Scholarship are now available in the guidance office.  You must have been a 2 year consecutive member of either the cross-country teams or the track and field squads to be eligible. Completed applications can be returned to either Mrs. Quinn or Mr. Adams as well as the counseling office by March 15. Late applications will not be accepted.

 

Attention Seniors:  Great Clips is sponsoring the Great Scholarship Program for students who are interested in pursuing an education in cosmetology. Information is now available for the Pennsylvania School Public Relations Association Scholarship.  They are offering three $1,000 scholarships.  Please visit the website for more information.  Deadline is March 15.

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available for the Pennsylvania Association of Medical Suppliers Scholarship. The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize outstanding students who have been successful in their educational pursuits while overcoming physical challenges with the help of home medical equipment and supplies. Completed packets must be mailed to the address on the application and postmarked no later than Friday April 7.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications for the Kiwanis Club Scholarship are now available in the guidance office. You must be attending Penn State Altoona and you must have submitted the 2017-2018 FAFSA form to be eligible for this scholarship. Completed applications should be mailed directly to the address on the application by March 17.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications for the Brian Morden Memorial Scholarship are now available in the guidance office.  This scholarship will be awarded to young men and women who have a fascination with technology and a love of music, and have completed all parts of the application. Applications should be emailed or postmarked by March 25 to the address on the applications.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available for the Erin Dodson Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to young men and women who participate in any high school athletics, who appreciate doing volunteer work, and have completed all parts of the application. You should be planning on majoring in education, communications or medicine to apply for this scholarship. Completed applications should be postmarked by March 25 to the address on the application.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Blair County Civic Music Foundation Scholarship. You must be pursuing study/training in the performing arts. Please mail completed applications to the address on the application by March 17.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the David Brozgal Memorial Scholarship. You must be pursuing training in a medical field. Applications are to be mailed to the address on the application by March 17.

 

Attention Seniors: Information is now available in the guidance office for the Center for Adoption Education of Central PA Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to a senior whose life has been directly touched by adoption. Completed applications must be mailed to the address on the scholarship application by March 17.

 

Attention Seniors: Information is now available in the guidance office for the William E. Frank and Swiss Club of Altoona Memorial Scholarship. Priority will be given to students who have a parent, step-parent or grandparent that is a member in good standing of the Swiss Club of Altoona. Application deadline is March 17 and must be mailed to the address on the application.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Hancock Group Scholarship. You must be pursuing a career in business, finance or a related field. Completed applications must be mailed to the address on the application by March 17.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Bessie Levine Memorial  Nursing Scholarship. You must be planning on pursuing a career in nursing. Completed applications must be mailed to the address on the application by March 17.

 

 

Attention Seniors: Information is now available in the guidance office for the Oakes Family Scholarship. You must be majoring in accounting to be eligible for this scholarship. Completed applications must be mailed to the address on the application by March 17.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications for the Scott Douglas Sparks Scholarship are now available in the guidance office. You must be planning on majoring in science, math linguistics or international studies. Applications must be mailed to the address on the application by March 17.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Todd Garner Sparks Scholarship. You must be attending a 4 year post-secondary educational institute majoring in Performing Arts/Theater Arts. Preference will be given to an applicant attending Penn State Altoona or Shenandoah University/Conservatory of Music. Applications must be returned to the address on the application by March 17.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Vince Frank “Big V” Memorial Scholarship. You must be attending Penn State University, University of Notre Dame, St. Francis University, or Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. Completed applications must be returned to the guidance office by Friday March 17.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications for the Captain Bob Gallardy Memorial Scholarship Fund are now available in the guidance office. Applicant must be a member of a volunteer fire department. Completed applications must be returned to the guidance office by Friday March 17.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Officer Chris Amerine Memorial Scholarship. You must be seeking post secondary education in the criminal justice field. Completed applications must be returned to the guidance office by Friday March 17.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Zach Hinish Special Education Major Scholarship and the Zach Hinish Nursing Scholarship. These applications must be returned to guidance by Friday March 17.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Donna Sheehan Nursing Scholarship. You must have been accepted into an RN program. Completed applications must be returned to the guidance office by Friday March 17.

 

Attention Seniors: Information is now available in the guidance office for the Christina Hughes Purcell Memorial Scholarship. You must be well rounded and concerned about the environment. Completed applications need to be returned to the guidance office by March 17.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available for the Blair Garden Club of Altoona Scholarship. Please stop in guidance for the application which will explain the qualifications. Completed applications must be returned to guidance by April 7.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Heidelberg Scholarship. Completed applications must be postmarked by April 1.

 

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the ARC Federal Credit Union Scholarship. The scholarship is based on academics, financial need, essay questions, and a personal interview. Completed applications must be mailed to the address on the application by March 3. Please note the deadline is fast approaching!!

 

Applications for the Edgar Snyder Words to Be Heard Scholarship are now available in the guidance office. Any high school senior who plans to attend a 2 or 4 year college, university, or trade school is encouraged to participate. Completed applications must be sent to the address on the scholarship and postmarked by March 24.

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Valley Rural Electric Scholarship. You must be an active Valley Rural Electric member to apply. Applications must be postmarked by April 15.
 
Attention Seniors: Applications are now available for the Business and Professional Women’s Club Scholarship.  They will be awarding a $500.00 scholarship to a 2017 high school graduate who plans to continue his/her education. Completed applications must be mailed to the address on the application and must be received in their office by April 13th.
 
Attention Seniors: Information is now available in the guidance office for the Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program. You will need to submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page of their website. Attention Seniors: Student Insights is once again sponsoring a scholarship contest for high school seniors. For more information please visit the website at www.student-view.com. Deadline is April 22.
 
Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Blair County Bar Association Scholarship. Only applications for students in the upper 10 percent of their class will be considered. You also must have demonstrated achievement in leadership and citizenship. Completed applications must be sent to the address on the application. Deadline is Friday, March 31.
 
Attention Seniors: Applications for the National Federation of the Blind Scholarship is now available in the guidance office. Any blind or visually impaired student is eligible to apply for these scholarships. Please visit the website at www.nfb.org/scholarships to complete an application online. Deadline is March 31.
 
Attention Seniors: Applications for the Officer Chris Amerine Memorial Scholarship are now available in the guidance office. You must be seeking post secondary education in the criminal justice field. Completed applications must be returned to the guidance office by March 10th. Late applications will not be accepted.
 
Attention Seniors: Applications for the Robert L. Hite Memorial Scholarship are now available in the guidance office. You must have outstanding academic achievement, exemplary citizenship qualities, proven leadership traits, and community service through volunteerism. Completed applications must be returned to the guidance office by Tuesday, February 28th. Late applications will not be accepted.
 
Attention Seniors: Applications for the NAACP Scholarship are now available in the guidance office. Eligibility requirements are listed with the application. Completed applications must be returned to the guidance office by March 31. Late applications will not be accepted
 
Attention Seniors: Applications are now available for the Richard McEldowney Scholarship. Requirements are listed on the front of the application.  Completed applications must be returned to the guidance office by Tuesday, February 28. Late applications will not be accepted.
 
Attention Seniors: Applications for the Ardie Dillen Memorial Scholarship are now available in the guidance office. You must be a male student planning on attending Penn State Altoona to be eligible for this scholarship. Completed applications must be returned to the guidance office by February 28. Late applications will not be accepted.
 
Attention Seniors: Applicatons for the Dr. James E. Smith Scholarship are now available in the guidance office. A scholarship of up to $2000.00 is available to award to needy and worthy young men and women planning on attending a Methodist College in Pennsylvania. Completed applications must be sent to the address on the scholarship and they must receive it by June 1st.
 
Attention Seniors:  Applications are now available in the guidance office for the AAHS Alumni Scholarship. Our Alumni Association will again award ten $1000.00 scholarships this year. Completed applications must be received in the guidance office by March 1 to be eligible for this scholarship.
The Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers is once again offering a scholarship to students of PACB member employees and directors.  The scholarships are available to high school seniors who are planning to attend an accredited college, university, or community college on a full-time basis. Please stop by the guidance office to pick up a packet of information.  Fully completed applications must be sent to the address on the application and be postmarked by February 11. Attention Seniors: The Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association is once again offering three $1000.00 scholarships. The scholarships will be awarded based upon the submission of an essay. Forms to request the essay packet are now available in the guidance office. Completed forms must be returned to the address on the application by January 17.
 
Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Big A Booster Scholarship. You must be a member of a varsity sport and your parent or guardian must be a current member of the Big A Booster Club. Completed applications should be returned to the guidance office by Friday, February 24. Late applications will not be accepted.
 
Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Coach William Smearman Scholarship. You must be in good standing and have participated in at least one recognized varsity sport during your senior year. Completed applications must be returned to the guidance office no later than Tuesday, February 28th. Late applications will not be accepted.
 
Attention Seniors: Information is now available in the guidance office for the Primary Health Network Scholarship for students who are pursuing a career in the healthcare field. Attention Seniors: Information is now available for the 2017 Honorsgradu Multimedia Scholarship. Students submit projects that respond to the prompt in one of the following media categories-art, photography, music, and creative writing. Attention Seniors: Information is now available in the guidance office for The United Survivors Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is offered to a student who has lost an immediate family member, relative, or close friend to a violent crime. To be considered in this category, in most cases, charges have been filed by the police. For more information, please see your counselor. Deadline is April 15.
 
Attention Seniors:  Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Altoona Area High School Scholarship. This one application covers many scholarships that are offered at our high school. Rove Pest Control Scholarship for Class of 2017 graduates is now available. Applicants for this scholarship must be attending college by the Fall 2017 semester and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship is open to anyone seeking a higher education.

Information is now available in the guidance office for the 2017 Epilepsy Western/Central Pennsylvania scholarship. This scholarship is for students who have epilepsy or seizure disorders.  Completed applications must be mailed to the address on the scholarship and received by March 17.2017.
 
Attention Senior Girls: Information is now available in the guidance office for the Women’s Transportation Seminar Scholarship. Any female student who is considering a career related to transportation may apply. Attention Seniors: A list of scholarships that are available through the Pennsylvania American Legion is now available in the guidance office. There is also some week long camps with the possibility to earn scholarship money including a State Police Youth Week. Please stop by guidance for a flyer if you are interested.

Information is now available in the guidance office for the Hugh Carcella United Steelworkers Scholarship. An applicant must be a member in good standing, or the son or daughter or legal ward of a member of a United Steelworkers, District 10 local union participating in the Scholarship Program or the son or daughter or legal ward of a disabled or old age retiree or deceased member of an affiliated local union who was in good standing. Applications may be obtained from participating local unions. Deadline is March 15, 2017.

To qualify for one of six scholarships awarded for up to $8000 , the student must be a PSECU member by Saturday December 31, 2016. There is an eligibility list available in the guidance office of ways to become a member. Applications are available at psecu.com/scholarships All applications must be received by noon on February 28, 2017. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
 
Apply through November 1, 2016 for the Pennsylvania Society with the Maguire Foundation scholarship, ranging up to $8,000 per year. Eligible seniors meet the following criteria:

 Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited, non-proprietary four-year college or university in the state of Pennsylvania for the entire 2017-2018 academic year.

 Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

Preliminary applications are now being sccepted for the Bud Lutty Scholarship competition for the Fall 2017 through Spring 2018 school year. Applications are available on the Union’s website at www.ufcw23.org All applications must be received by the Fund Office on or before December 31; however, the earlier the application is received the smoother the submission process will be. Again, the deadline is December 31.
 
The Western Pennsylvania Golf Association is offering a renewable scholarship (total value over 4 years is $16,000) to employees who have worked in a member club for at least two seasons. Attention Seniors: The 2016 QuestBridge National College Match for high school seniors is now open. This is a nationally recognized program that connects high-achieving, low-income students to full 4 year scholarships from 38 of the nation’s best colleges including Amherst, Duke, MIT, Stanford, & Yale. Applications are now being accepted for the Horatio Alger Scholarship. This scholarship program provides financial assistance to students throughout the nation who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Students may apply online at scholars.horatioalger.org Please note your counselor must also complete a Certifications Form online so please see your counselor if you are interested in this scholarship. Scholarship deadline is October 25.
 

Attention Seniors: Bradford School is once again sponsoring fall and winter scholarship exams. Additional information and application are available on their website at bradfordpittsburgh.edu Application deadline is September 24.

 

Attention senior athletes:The Wendy’s High School Heisman scholarship application is available online. They give out 100 scholarships to students ranging from $1,000 - $10,000. Visit https://www.wendyshighschoolheisman.com/application/are-you-eligible/ to learn more.
 
Tobacco-Free Life awards $2,000 in scholarships each quarter to students who are committed to preventing the suffering and death caused by smoking. See their website for further information:
